We seem to have lost the impulse to produce artistically, to resourcefully explore our most emotional cathartic perceptions, thoughts and feelings, our multifaceted intellectual abilities. There’s a generalized idea that almost none of us are good enough to do it. Everything is now so “Instant access”, “Widely available”, “Easy to learn – Step 1”, that most people probably can’t or don’t imagine there’s any point in bothering to do things themselves.
A vast majority of society seems to presume that culture is something specialists produce and ordinary citizens have acquiesced to play the passive role of receivers. It’s a common mistake within contemporary societies. By eliminating the importance of the process it creates more and more superfluous products that will satisfy the voracity of consumption, of the receivers. As a human being, I want to accept this as evolution, as a citizen, I want to understand the social/politic changes of this society and as an artist, I want to do more. Art, can transform us from passive consumers into active creators and I want to be capable of question that path, to be active, to interact, to produce something more than momentary satisfactions.
